Book street opens in city

Hundreds of book lovers, especially youths have visited the four-day event to buy books and join numerous activities, including exhibitions of good and rare historical books, foreign books, old books’ swap, exchanges with writers and bookshelves for workers.

A regular book street titled “Pho sach Sai Gon – TPHCM” (Saigon – HCMC Book Street) will be discussed as part of the event. Previously, Prof. Quach Thu Nguyet, former director of Tre (Youth) Publishing House, proposed organizing a regular book street to create a venue for local intellectuals and book lovers on her Facebook page.

The venue for the cultural event on Nguyen Van Binh Street in District 1 has got good feedback from the public as well as local media since it was suggested by Prof. Nguyet. A project on the activities of the book street will be put forward for public comments.
