The city is the political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological center of Ninh Thuan province. It is located close to the Cam Ranh International Airport and at a convenient position for road and railway transportation.

The city’s annual average income per capita was 1.45 times over the country’s average and its annual average economic growth reached 14.59% in the 2012-2014 period.

Phan Rang-Thap Cham has large potential in wood processing, construction materials and handicrafts for tourism and export, playing an important role in stimulating socio-economic development of the province and the surrounding region.
