(Cinet)- “Run Boy, Run” film by Director Pepe Danquart will be screened in Goethe Institute Hanoi on October 04.
The Academy Award winning director, whose work focuses on German society, sports and politics, comes at the Viet Nam Cinematography Association’s invitation .
“Run Boy, Run” is the film adaption of the same-titled novel of Uri Orlev, which has been translated into 15 languages. The book tells the true story of an 8 year old refugee, escaping from the ghetto of Warsaw, who is out on a limb during the occupation period. Always depending on the goodwill of the people he meets on his way.
Academy Award-winner Pepe Danquart staged this oppressive and impressive story of a boy who manages to be one step ahead of his pursuers for three years because of his courage and an incredible instinct for survival as an ode to life and humanity into chaos.
Pepe Danquart was born in Singen. He studied communication science from 1975 to 1981 at the university in Freiburg und was co-founder of the collective Medienwerkstatt. He taught at German Film and Television Academy Berlin and has been lecturer at Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. His short films and documentaries reflect German society, sports and political affairs. In 1994 he received the best short film Oscar for “Schwarzfahrer“.
The film will air at 7pm on October 4 with Vietnamese and English subtitles. After the screenings, there will be question-and-answer sessions with the director.
