‘The final portrait of painter Bui Xuan Phai’ by Dao Quang Minh wins the second prize
NDO – The capital city continues to host cultural activities, including photo exhibitions, to celebrate its 60th anniversary of Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2014).
A photo exhibition entitled ‘Hanoi, innovation and development’ opened at No.93 Dinh Tien Hoang street on October 8 by the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Associations and Hanoi Photography Arts Association.
The exhibition, the 44th of its kind, showcases 132 photos selected from more than 1,200 photos submitted by 155 authors. The 16 best works were presented with prizes including one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and ten consolation prizes.
Author Vu Quang Ngoc won the first prize for the work ‘Modern line’ while Dao Quang Minh and Vu Ngoc Hoang seized the second prizes for the work ‘The final portrait of painter Bui Xuan Phai’ and ‘Charm’ respectively.
Photos on display feature the achievements of the capital city over the past 60 years in the areas of politics, economics, culture, science, society and daily life.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Hanoi Photography Arts Association, Dang Dinh An said the photographers have depicted Hanoi with many different perspectives imbued with both traditional and modern qualities. The success of this photo contest lies in its quality as a contest with topical and high artistic values, he added.
On the same day, Hanoi Moi newspaper launched a photo exhibition at its Headquarters No.44 Le Thai To under the theme ‘Heroic Capital – The City for Peace, 60 years of construction and development’.
The exhibition is displaying 60 photos by members of Hanoi Moi newspaper’s photography club that feature milestones and changes to Hanoi after the liberation.
The event will run until October 12.
The Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts at No.2 Hoa Lu also held a fine arts exhibition on October 8 to mark the capital’s liberation day.
As many as 318 works of arts are on display in various genres including painting, graphics and sculpture describing the life, landscape, customs, habits and festivals in Hanoi.
The exhibition brings together 22 works of arts from artists of the Republic of Korea sent to Hanoi to help celebrate its Liberation Day.
The exhibition will end on October 12.
