Police bust Chinese gambling ring in northern Vietnam

The Ministry of Public Security commended and rewarded some of its units and the Quang Ninh province police on Wednesday for busting a 28-member Chinese gang that ran a large-scale gambling ring in the northern province.


On September 12, police raided a local hotel of in Mong Cai Town’s commercial center.


The unannounced inspection at the Ngoc Anh Hotel revealed that a group of 28 Chinese nationals ran gambling sites used by thousands of Chinese gamblers.


The ring allegedly used local internet lines to avoid Chinese oversight, police said.



Police handed the group and dozens of internet servers, computers and other documents over to Chinese authorities on September 13 for further investigation.
