2 dead, 4 missing for low pressure in northern Vietnam

Two people died and four others have been missing due to strong winds, heavy rains, and floods as a result of a low pressure in two recent days in the northern provinces of Vietnam.


A person in Bang Lang Commune, Quang Binh District of Ha Giang Province died today afternoon for being swept away by flooding water while crossing a stream.


Yesterday at a port in Thai Binh Province, the fishing ship numbered TB-4207 with four aboard was sunken by big waves when its engine was having technical troubles. Rescue squad saved three of them and discovered the body of the last fisherman.



Floods and heavy rains also caused two people missing in provinces Thai Nguyen and Lai Chau today.


The other two missing cases happened yesterday when the cargo ship Phu Cuong carrying 300 tons of coal sank five nautical miles off Ha Mai Island of the northern Quang Ninh Province. The accident forced six crew members leaving the ship and two have still been missing.


Yesterday, three other ships were sinking in the coastal Hai Phong water due to floods and strong winds but no casualty was reported.
