The figure includes 2.9 million who travelled to Vietnam for tourism (up 13.9% year-on-year); 815,811 on business (up 16.1%); 836,388 visiting relatives (up 19.5%) and 270,813 visitors for other reasons (up 21.1%).
The inflow of visitors from Hong Kong recorded the highest increase with 111.3%. This was followed by Germany (over 99.4%), Russia (27%), Laos (26.7%) and China (26%).
The number of foreign visitors to Vietnam reached 564,736 in July 2014, a 4.6% increase over the previous month.
The tourism sector is scheduled to welcome 8.2 million foreign visitors and 37.5 million domestic visitors in 2014, as well as bringing in over VND 240 trillion in revenue.
The sector will continue to take all available measures to ensure the safety, security and quality of its tourism services.
