Qatar Airways launches direct flights to Da Nang

<div>The new service every on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday is expected to open up new prospects for economic, cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Dinh Thao.</div>
<div>The flight operates with a Boeing B787 aircraft, featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class.</div>
<div>Qatar Airways’ first direct flight between the Qatari capital of Doha and Da Nang city landed at Da Nang International Airport on December 19 with 150 passengers aboard.</div>
<div>Beside flights linking Da Nag city and Doha, the airline offered non-stop between Doha and HCMC in 2007, and Doha-Hanoi direct route in 2010.</div>
<div>Established in 1994, Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and is one of the few with the coveted five-star ranking.</div>

<p>The two-day festival introduces every aspect of Thailand to Hanoians, from the combat sport of muay Thai, and traditional puppetry arts of Hun Lakhon Lek to delectable Thai cuisine, folk arts, and the finest products.</p>
<p>Visitors at the event can also join a lucky draw to win full-package tours to Thailand, airline tickets and many other prizes.</p>
<p>Addressing the event, TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn, described 2018 as a lucky year for Thailand’s tourism as the country has welcomed 1 million Vietnamese visitors during the year, saying that it was an encouraging sign reflecting the close cooperation and development between the two countries.</p>
<p>He expressed his hope that the number of Vietnamese tourists travelling to Thailand in 2019 would see an increase of 10% in comparison to this year.</p>
<p>For his part, Deputy Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ha Van Sieu, highly appreciated the tourism promotional activities hosted by Thailand in Vietnam, which has attracted great interest from local residents.</p>
<p>He also expressed his belief in the robust bilateral development, particular in tourism links, making Thailand and Vietnam the most favourite destination of citizens from each country.</p>

<p>According to Ho An Phong, Director of Quang Binh provincial Department of Tourism, a tourism stimulus programme kicked off on December 20, providing international visitors with a 10% price discount on all tourist products and services in the locality for one month.</p>
<p>Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park will host a street arts and cuisine festival from December 28 to 31, featuring water puppetry performances, a music show, and food courts showcasing delicious indigenous dishes of the province. A count-down programme will also be staged there on the evening of December 31.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, a programme themed ‘Hoi An welcoming New Year 2019’ will be organised from December 24, 2018, to January 1, 2019, in Hoi An city.</p>
<p>During the programme, Nguyen Phuc Chu street will be colourfully decorated and booths will be set up along the street to bring a taste of Hoi An to vacationers. There will also be arts performances, a dance contest, and a Taekwondo exchange between athletes from Hoi An and the Republic of Korea.</p>
<p>A gala night will kick off at 21:30 on December 31 to bid farewell to 2018 and ring in New Year 2019.</p>
<p>In Da Nang city, the year-end season is a time for diverse events and activities such as the Festive Season at the Coco Bay coastal entertainment and hospitality complex, the winter spring in the Ba Na Hills tourism complex, and the Countdown Party at the 29 March Square in the downtown area of the city.</p>
<p>According to the city’s tourism department, Da Nang is expected to welcome more than 158,000 arrivals during the Christmas and New Year holidays, including nearly 91,500 foreigners.</p>

<p>The 500-hectare West Lake is a natural lake located northwest of Hanoi. Historical records show that the lake was once part of the Red River. It has had several names such as Dam Dam (Mist Lake), Kim Nguu (Golden Buffalo), and Xac Cao (Fox Corpse). Each name is associated with a legend. The surrounding road is picturesque and shaded by green trees all year round. When seen from above, West Lake is in the shape of a pincer. Thanh Nien road separates it and Truc Bach lake.     </p>
<p>West Lake is close to Hanoians’ hearts. Its beauty is made up of the crystal wavy water, giant purple crape-myrtle (bang lang) flowers, red flamboyant (phuong) flowers in summer, and falling willow branches.</p>
<p>What makes West Lake special is that its water changes color between green and gray depending on the weather. The lake becomes most beautiful probably when the sun goes down and street lights play their shadow upon the water.</p>
<p>The encircling road is packed with locals doing exercises at dusk and dawn, couples dating, and friends and families enjoying their recreation activities. Nguyen Tung Lam, who lives in Dong Da district, said “I have many fond memories of my youth associated with West Lake. My girlfriend and I used to walk and chat for hours on this road where there are many cafes and street food vendors. My friends and I can stay and enjoy for a whole night. I think West Lake is a special place to Hanoians, both young and old.”</p>

<p>There are numerous religious sites around West Lake such as Tran Quoc pagoda, Quan Thanh temple, and Tay Ho pagoda. All are popular venues for local prayers during Tet holidays and the first and 15th days of a lunar month. People come to admire the Buddhist architectural style and pray for good luck and happiness.</p>
<p><span>Le Nhu Loan of Hoan Kiem district told VOV “Pagodas around West Lake are large and majestic. The fragrance of burning incense and pure air bring about the relaxation. I often see lots of foreigners and take photos with them everytime I go to these pagodas.”</span></p>
<p>The lake’s surrounding ponds are loved for its lotus flowers fully blossom in May and provide the ingredient for the famous West Lake lotus scented tea. It is also well-known for its many flower villages, such as Nghi Tam and Nhat Tan peach blossom.</p>
<p>Tran Thi Nga of Nhat Tan village said, “I, the daughter-in-law, follow my husband’s family business of peace blossom growing. People visit Nhật Tân village to enjoy the beautiful scenery, buy flowers, and take photos. Here it’s very cool because the village is close to West Lake.”</p>
<p>Visitors to tranquil West Lake, different from Hanoi’s busy center, can find an unusual peace of mind. </p>

<p>Speaking at a recent conference held by the administration in Hanoi City to summarize the 2018 performance and draw up a plan for 2019, the minister asked the administration to promptly address shortcomings; tighten controls on destination management, quality of services and discounted tours; enhance competitiveness of tourism attractions; and focus on training tour guides.</p>
<p>Additionally, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism was required to complete a report on the growth in the number of tourists in 2018, point out strengths and weaknesses of the country’s tourism sector; boost tourism promotion activities in targeted markets and expand into new markets; and cooperate with enterprises to develop the sector in 2019.</p>
<p>Vietnam enjoyed impressive results from the tourism sector this year, welcoming some 15.6 million international tourists and serving 80 million domestic travelers. Its total revenue was posted at VND620 trillion this year.</p>

<p>For several days now, the cathedral has been decorated both inside and outside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. A flower garden in front of the church also features a grotto with the nativity scene.</p>

<p>In the mornings, some schools take their small children to the Cathedral’s main hall for a Christmas excursion.</p>
