<p><strong>Can Tho (VNA)</strong> – More the 2.4 million people visited the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in the first three months of 2018, up 13.6 percent year on year and realising 30.2 percent of the yearly target.</p>
<p>Tourism brought in 895 billion VND (39.29 million USD) during the period, an annual increase of 20.9 percent. The revenue met 25.7 percent of target set for 2018.</p>
<p>Le Minh Son, Vice Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attributed the results to myriad activities held in celebration of the lunar New Year holiday, particularly the opening of nine more tourism sites.</p>
<p>A range of tourism promotion programmes have been launched, such as piloting guitar and calligraphy performances on Ninh Kieu Wharf every Sunday and introducing three food and fashion streets.</p>
<p>The city plans to boost quality of local tourist destinations, while offering new destinations and tourism services. The plan covers the improvement of river tours and electric car services, and the construction of entertainment and resort area, among other facilities.-VNA  </p>

<p><strong>Quang Ninh (VNA)</strong> – The northern province of Quang Ninh, the host of the National Tourism Year 2018, is focusing on four types of tourism products, namely sea and island tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism, community-based tourism, ad border tourism.</p>
<p>The locality welcomed 4.6 million tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2018, up 21 percent against the same period last year, of whom 1.3 million are foreigners, up 8 percent. It earned over 7.3 trillion VND (320.4 million USD) from tourism, a year-on-year rise of 24 percent.</p>
<p>In the period, the tourism sector well organised festivals, resulting in an increase in the number of visitors to relic sites and tourist attractions.</p>
<p>Drastic measures were taken to detect and solve any violations in holding and managing festivals and celebrations.</p>
<p>The sector also organised regular inspections at key tourist sites such as Tuan Chau international cruise port, Dai Duong park and Quang Ninh museum. A hotline is also available around the clock to timely receive tourists’ complaints.</p>
<p>Thanks to these moves, Quang Ninh is becoming a safe, friendly and attractive destination to not only domestic and foreign tourists.</p>
<p>The province, home to the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, is the host of the National Tourism Year 2018 themed “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination”. It is projected to host at least 51 cultural, sports and tourism events throughout the year.</p>
<p>Highlights include the opening ceremony and Carnaval Ha Long 2018 in Ha Long city, which is scheduled for April 28.</p>
<p>The province hopes to welcome 12 million visitors this year, including five million foreigners, and earn 22 trillion VND (968 million USD).</p>
<p>In 2017, it accommodated 9.87 million arrivals, including 4.28 million foreigners, up 18 percent and 23 percent year on year, respectively.</p>
<p>The sector earned over 17.88 trillion VND (786.9 million USD), up 30 percent year on year, and contributed 3.2 trillion VND (140.8 million USD) to the State budget, accounting for 11.9 percent of the local budget collection.- VNA</p>

<div>Under the permission from ministries of Transport and Finance, types of airport charges and fees at airfields, including Noi Bai, Da Nang, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Cat Bi, Vinh, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Lien Khuong, Phu Bai and Buon Ma Thuot will increase by VND11,000 per person from April 1- June 30.</div>
<div>Accordingly, airport service fees will see an additional increase of VND5,000 per passengers, up from VND80,000 to VND85,000; and will cost VND100,000 starting from July 1.</div>
<div>Meanwhile security screening fees will increase by VND6,000 per turn to VND18,000.</div>
<div>The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines will increase the price of an one-way fare for children by VND30,000-VND40,000 per, at 90% of the adult fare.</div>
<div>The low-cost airline Vietjet has also informed its agents to adjust their passenger service fee (airport charge) and security fee for screening in the time ahead. Passengers will pay for flight date, time and name changes an amount of VND374,000 and VND495,000 per person on local route and VND800,000 per passenger on international flight.</div>
<div>These fees are separate from the ticket prices, but are included in the total cost that passengers must pay.</div>

<p>The enhancement of capitalising on values of the agricultural sector to create high-quality and competitive tourism products is an inevitable trend, said Nguyen Quy Phuong – Director of the Travel Department under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.</p>

<p>He made the remark at a workshop on agri-tourism in Hanoi on March 30. The event was part of the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2018.</p>
<p>Phuong said tourism and agriculture are two spearhead sectors that the Party and State prioritise in the country’s socio-economic development orientation. In the time ahead, the policies on new-style rural area building and high-quality agriculture development will be favourable conditions for tourism to develop.</p>
<p>Over the past time, a number of organisations and individuals in many localities have made use of agricultural factors to develop tourism. Many tourism products imbued with agricultural identities of regions from the north to the south have been created, meeting tourists’ demand.</p>
<p>He noted some outstanding tours, including the tour in the rice harvest period in Duong Lam of Hanoi; the tours of Tra Que vegetable village, Thanh Ha pottery village and Cu Lao Cham fishing village in Hoi An of central Quang Nam province; or trips to orchards and floating markets in Can Tho, Vinh Long and Tien Giang in the Mekong Delta.</p>
<p>At the workshop, many participants said agri-tourism brought economic and social benefits to many localities and businesses. Some localities and travel companies reported that the number of tourists engaging in agricultural activities has been on the rise. Meanwhile, agri-tourism activities have become a stable source of income for local farmers and businesses.</p>
<p>However, they noted, despite the considerable potential for agri-tourism, agri-tourism activities in Vietnam remain unprofessional. Local agricultural and cultural values haven’t been studied methodologically to create high-quality tourism products. Many agri-tourism models still mainly depend on the natural environment and haven’t been renewed, making them no long attractive to travellers.</p>
<p>Participants added to boost agri-tourism, the tourism and agriculture sectors need to coordinate to build a national programme on agri-tourism associated with building new-style rural areas. Relevant parties should also strengthen the connectivity among farmers, travel firms, local authorities, and tourism management agencies to introduce more high-quality and professional agri-tourism products.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> The sixth Vietnam International Travel Mart – VITM Hanoi 2018, which took place from March 29 to April 1 at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace on 91 Tran Hung Dao street, drew about 60,000 visitors.</p>
<p>The event featured over 500 pavilions of 675 firms, including 112 of trade promotion agencies of 21 countries and territories, with the participation of around 3,000 entrepreneurs.</p>
<p>Travel businesses of Vietnam and other countries introduced their products at the event. Statistics of 21 travel agencies showed that a total 29,300 guests booked their package tours worth 245 billion VND (10.74 million USD).</p>
<p>A survey conducted by the organisers have showed that 81.2 percent of participating units said they were satisfied with the VITM 2018, and 74.5 percent of them will continue to join the event in the future.</p>
<p>Under the theme of “Online travel, Vietnam tourism looks toward the fourth industrial revolution,” the VITM 2018 had numerous activities encouraging enterprises to gain access to and grasp business opportunities in the digital era.</p>
