Vietjet’s lucky winners to fly from Taipei to Vietnam

Vietjet’s lucky winners to fly from Taipei to Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge – The 127 winners of Vietjet’s “Spread the Love” program have been identified and they will receive great reward.

For one of Vietjet’s most special campaigns to date, dubbed “Spread the Love”, the airline asked residents of Vietnam and Taiwan to share their stories – the most moving or captivating stories – to be rewarded with a free ticket from Taipei to HCM City and a 50% discount off from HCM City to Taipei.

The airline was inundated with a multitude of incredible stories – some fascinating, others poignant, many inspiring, perhaps all deserving winners.

One story was about a man running his business in Taiwan; another was about a tourist who is passionate about exploring new lands and meeting new people. The airline also received a letter from a Vietnamese woman who has been struggling in Taiwan after moving away from her hometown in Vietnam.

In the end, 127 lucky customers were chosen as winners to board a special flight on 20 March, 2015 that will fly from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh City. This special, complimentary flight will mean a huge number of happy smiles as all of the lucky winners are reunited with their loved ones.

One lucky winner, Ms. Xuong Hoa, a Taiwanese businesswoman explained why she is so happy to return to Vietnam for her second visit.

“When I visited Vietnam a few years ago, I could not communicate in Vietnamese, but I fell in love with the people and the cuisine,” she said.

“I was also very impressed with the fast growing economy over there. Thanks to this special flight offered by Vietjet, I will have a chance to visit Vietnam one more time so I can explore more business opportunities. Thank you Vietjet!”

Another passenger on this special flight will be the son of Ms. Kim Cuc, a young Vietnamese woman who married a Taiwanese businessman 10 years ago and relocated to her husband’s country.

“Even though I have been in Taiwan for 10 years, I have only returned to Vietnam a few times,” says Kim Cuc.

“I love Taiwan but I still want my kid to learn Vietnamese and meet his relatives so I am delighted to send him back to Vietnam for a family reunion with his maternal grandparents. My son has often asked me when he can he visit Vietnam for the first time and I am always upset when I have to tell him I cannot afford to take him back, so thank you Vietjet, from the bottom of my heart, for this incredible opportunity.”

The HCM City-Taipei route currently operates five round trips per week every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with a flight duration of three hours and 25 minutes per leg.

On scheduled flight days, Vietjet will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 2.30pm (Vietnam time) and arrive in Taipei at 6.55pm (Taiwan time). Coming in the other direction, a flight will take off in Taipei at 8pm (Taiwan time) and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 10.25pm (Vietnam time).

Moving forward, Vietjet will continue to expand its flight network in the near future by adding flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Kaohsiung and Taichung in Taiwan, offering more flying opportunities with best possible services and unbeatable fares to businesspersons, tourists and expatriates returning for family reunions.

Vietjet – The first privately owned airline in Vietnam – is applying the operation model of a new age airline. With the fleet of 20 Airbus A320 aircraft, Vietjet now operates 150 flights per day, transporting eight million passengers in total so far. NatGeo, Star World to promote Da Nang fireworks competition: organizer

The biennial Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) this year will be promoted on several international TV channels, the organizer said Friday as it unveiled plans for the event now in its seventh edition.

The DIFC 2015 will take place on the iconic Han River of the central city of Da Nang on April 28 and 29, the municipal administration told a press conference.

The event, themed the “symphony of colors,” will see competitions among South Africa, the U.S., Australia, Poland, and Vietnam, which represent the world’s five continents.

Many other supportive activities, including a culinary exchange, art lighting performance, beach sports, and music and fashion shows, will be held along with the fireworks competitions.

Famous international TV channels including StarWorld, National Geographic, and BBC World will promote the event to Asian audiences, according to the organizer.

It is estimated to cost Da Nang VND50 billion (US$2.33 million) to host the event, and the city is not allowed to use money from its own budget, according to chairman Huynh Duc Tho.

“It’s a big challenge for the city,” he was quoted by Phap Luat (Law) newspaper as saying.

Da Nang has thus called for sponsorships from local businesses, and has so far mobilized some VND26 billion ($1.21 million) from 40 sponsors.

“Had businesses not accompanied with us, the completion would have never been organized,” Tho said.

Three stands, labeled as A, B, and C, will be set up to serve audiences for the fireworks show. The Stand A and B collectively provide 17,650 seats, whereas Stand C has 14,350 seats, according to the city’s administration.

The organizer will issue 10,300 tickets per night, with prices ranging from VND300,000 to VND500,000 ($13.9- $23.3) each.

The DIFC, also known as Da Nang Fireworks Festival, had been an annual competition since 2008 before it was scheduled to take place biennially from 2015.

Five nations have so far participated in the competition. In 2008 the event attracted 30,000 audiences, and the figure jumped to 400,000 in 2013.

Team Melrose Pyrotecnics from the U.S. won the first place of the 2013 edition, themed “Love of Han River.”

Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to get the latest news about Vietnam!

NatGeo, Star World to promote Da Nang fireworks competition: organizer Releated Image(s)

A lot of domestic companies remain unaware of the ASEAN Economic Community - PHOTO: UYEN VIEN

The fact is proven by a recent survey conducted by the University of Economics and Business under the Vietnam National University in Hanoi with nearly 700 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hanoi, Haiphong, HCMC, Danang and Can Tho cities taking part.

The majority of respondents do not know when AEC comes into existence and its key pillars, as well as the AEC scorecard, which is a monitoring mechanism for the integration process of each member of the bloc.

The survey also found that companies in industrial, construction, trade and services sectors have better knowledge of AEC than those in the agricultural sector. In general, large enterprises know AEC better than SMEs do.

Nguyen Hong Son, head of the University of Economics and Business, said most of the respondents recognized the opportunities of the single market of the 10 ASEAN nations but they also worry about fiercer competition triggered by goods producers and services providers from other countries of the bloc.

Enterprises are not fully aware of opportunities and challenges from the AEC establishment as they do not pay much attention to this. Only 40% of respondents said they will not adjust their business plans ahead of Vietnam’s further integration into the region.

The survey found local businesses attend more to the World Trade Organization, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Vietnam-European Union free trade agreement (FTA) than the forthcoming birth of AEC.

According to the Ministry of Finance, with the establishment of AEC later this year, Vietnam will integrate further into the region this year than before and exempt tariffs on more groups of items imported from ASEAN and other markets as committed to FTAs.

The ministry said 72% of the groups of items imported from ASEAN were entitled to tariff exemptions last year and the percentage rises to around 90% in 2015. This year, Vietnam has committed to exempt 37% of the groups of commodities from import tariffs under seven FTAs the country has signed.

However, many domestic enterprises do not know about the commitments, according to Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, director of the WTO Center under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The center wrote to the Ministry of Industry and Trade asking for the disclosure of Vietnam’s commitments to FTAs but the ministry said it would need more time to adjust tax codes.

Vo Tri Thanh, vice president of the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), said disseminating information about Vietnam’s commitments to FTAs is slow. He added that not only businesses but also Government officials know little about AEC.

When AEC is in place, Vietnam will open its doors to investors as widely as other ASEAN countries but will exclude labor and service markets.

Thanh highly appreciates the Vietnam-EU FTA and TPP, both under negotiations. TPP requires 90% of the tariff lines to drop to 0% immediately after it takes effect while it will take seven years to bring 90% of tariff lines to zero in the FTA with the EU.

Many local firms unaware of AEC Related image(s)

However, meeting the criteria for a market economy cannot be done overnight as this will take time to adapt and make changes.

The latest round of negotiations for the FTA took place in Belgium over one week ago and both sides will need one more round before they consider signing the trade agreement.

Jessen described the results of negotiations as positive, saying the two sides would end FTA talks soon.

Jessen expected the FTA will foster bilateral relations and help Vietnam boost internal reforms which the country’s leaders are determined to do. Both sides need to closely cooperate in government procurement and use of State funding transparently and effectively for the sake of Vietnamese people.

The EU has recently announced more non-refundable aid for Vietnam, increasing from 300 million euros to 400 million euros in the 2014-2020 period regardless of the tight fiscal policy in Europe.

The EU together with its member states has become the biggest provider of grants for Vietnam.

To mark the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties, a series of activities will be organized throughout the year.
