When they asked a Vietnamese friend to look for a hotel to be the background for their bridal photos, the friend suggested that they try taking Vietnamese-style outdoor wedding photos. Taking their friend’s advice, the couple had a memorable photo shoot in <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmDn1">Long An and Dong Thap Province</a> in southern Vietnam. In the background of their beautiful photos are immense paddy fields in Long An and lush lotus ponds and fruit-laden orchards in <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJYM3">Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta</a>. The bride and groom, in traditional Vietnamese outfits, “ao ba ba” (pyjamas), “<a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmEHn">khan ran</a>” (black-white checked bandanna) and “non la” conical leaf hats, beamed with happiness just like real native farmers. “Wedding photos are mainly limited to those taken at studios and wedding parties. We found taking outdoor bridal photos, which are increasingly popular in Vietnam, a very enjoyable experience,” shared Tsutomu Mimatsu. He added that in Japan, people typically take two types of wedding photos. The first photos, taken about one month before the wedding, features the bride and groom in traditional kimonos, which are quite time-consuming to don at the wedding reception. The other photos, taken on the wedding day, features the couple performing their traditional nuptial rituals and receiving guests at the wedding party in Western apparel. <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJXb0">Tsutomu and Erika Mimatsu’s</a> bridal photos drew some thousand comments shortly after their album was launched on the social network. Britain’s Ed Sheeran charts at No.1, breaks 2014 album sales record

Remake of iconic Japanese ‘Doraemon’ feature film to hit Vietnam screens

Fujio, the animation series’ writer. Launched in 1969 as a “manga” (Japanese comic) series, “Doraemon” features Doraemon, a cute, smart robot cat in his adventures with his preteen human friends. Its episodes typically feature the robot cat helping the protagonist of the series, <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmC2f">Nobita Nobi</a>, using futuristic gadgets which he pulls out of his special pocket. The comic was a great hit among children in several Asian countries, including Vietnam, back in the 1990s, when kids would eagerly await the release of the next installments. The first TV animation series was launched in 1973 and has been taken to 35 countries and territories, mostly in Asia, where it has also enjoyed a huge following. The manga series has also inspired a series of 36 nearly annual feature movies, which have also been screened in the US and elsewhere. “Doraemon”‘s fans in Vietnam have also had the opportunity to watch some of the feature movies since last year. His project also won a Gold in the Public Amenity-Resort Building Category, his third gold medal at this award. <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJUM6">The Dailai Bamboo Complex</a> comprises two adjacent works: <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmyzz">Bamboo Wing and Dai Lai Conference Hall</a>, which were designed by Nghia in coordination with Japanese architect <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJVjd">Takashi Niwa</a>. Bamboo Wing and Dai Lai Conference Hall, built in 2009 and 2012 respectively, are both constructed with bamboos in different styles. Two other Vietnamese architects also won prizes at the award. <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmzDB">Hoang Thuc Hao</a> won “<a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJUMa">Honorable Mention</a>” for the Social Responsible Architecture Category with his “Ta Phin Community House” located in northern <a href="http://bit.ly/UkX1Uc">Lao Cai Province</a>. <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJUMc">Nguyen Hoa Hiep</a> earned “Mention” in the <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJUMe">Single Housing</a> for Residential Project and Public Amenity-Resort Building Categories for his architectural works of “The Nest” and “9 Spa”, which are located in central <a href="http://bit.ly/1f8hrDt">Khanh Hoa Province</a> respectively. <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmyzM">The ARCASIA</a> 2014 Awards received more than 276 submissions, mostly from its 23 members. Vo Trong Nghia has pocketed dozens of international architecture awards of various categories so far. He was named ‘the vanguard designer’ by the <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJVjk">US Architectural Record</a>, and one of the top 21 architects of the 21st century by the <a href="http://bit.ly/V3DR64">World Architecture News</a> in the same year for his unique bamboo works, including Eco-resort <a href="http://bit.ly/V3DR65">Pavilion in Vietnam and Hill Restaurant in Mexico</a>. As his latest accolade, The “House for Trees,” designed in collaboration with <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJVjo">Masaaki Iwamoto and Kosuke Nishijima</a> from Japan, won the 5th 2014 AR House Awards presented in London in mid June. <a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmzUa">The AR House Awards</a> is an internationally renowned architecture award granted annually by <a href="http://bit.ly/V3DTuB">Architectural Review</a>, an architecture magazine. Royal library restored in former Vietnam capital

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'> <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJUfj">According to Hue Monuments Conservation Center</a>, restoration has recently been kicked off at the royal library inside the <a href="http://bit.ly/1ksRKFJ">Hue Royal Palace</a>, the capital under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) – the country’s last monarchy – in central Thua Thien – Hue Province. <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJV2C"><img alt="1514899-6jb6lw42" class="attachment-medium aligncenter" height="295" rel="lightbox" src="http://bit.ly/1vsJV2C" width="500"/> </a> The restoration project on Tang Tho (<a href="http://bit.ly/1lPmwro">Hidden books</a>) Shed, worth VND24.8 billion dong (US$1.2 million), is expected to complete by May 2017. Built in 1825 during the reign of <a href="http://bit.ly/1nQ2VsY">King Minh Mang</a> (1791 – 1841), the second Nguyen king, <a href="http://bit.ly/1vsJV2F">Tang Tho Shed</a> was among the very few architectural works which were made totally from traditionally mortared bricks. The almost 600m2 area, which was used to store the Nguyen Dynasty’s significant documents and archives, has sustained serious damage over the course of time. After the restoration is complete, the library will be home to precious manuscripts and rare materials on Hue, particularly the Nguyen Dynasty’s heritage. German Embassy in Vietnam launches logo design contest
