In November, ethnic minority groups in Bac Me district are busy preparing for the biggest raft racing festival in the northern mountainous province. This is the third time the festival has been held with the participation of 19 teams from different communes and districts from neighbouring provinces of Cao Bang and Tuyen Quang. The floating raft is made of bamboo trees and racers have to row the boat manually. The festival aims to reproduce the working atmosphere of ethnic groups in Bac Me district in the past. Apart from the festival, a series of cultural events will be held to feature unique tradition of Tay, Muong and Dao ethnic groups in the area.
