Huynh Quang Hung, vice chairman of Phu Quoc island district People’s Committee says local authorities have worked hand in hand with relevant agencies to apply strict controls over travel operators’ activities, tourism sites and beaches, to ensure the security and safety of tourists.
Numerous resorts on the island such as Vinpearl Land, Vinpearl Safari, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, and Bai Truong Tourist Complex have offered a wide range of tourism products, entertainment and eco-friendly services with hospitality and local cuisine.
Phu Quoc International Airport has recently opened several routes to regional destinations and further afar with flights linking Phu Quoc to such nations as Russia, the UK, Sweden, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and China to meet the growing travel demands of international tourists.
In 2018, Phu Quoc Island district plans to put several infrastructure projects into operation such as the Vinpearl tourism complex with a casino, An Thoi-Hon Thom cable car, and Phu Quoc International Passenger Terminal.
Phu Quoc has set a target of receiving 500,000 foreign tourists or more this year, by pursuing strong tourism promotion activities at home and abroad, developing attractive tourism products, and protecting the environment.
In 2017, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 361,500 international visitors, up 72% from a year earlier.
