Ba Be – Bac Kan Tourism Week 2017 opens

Ba Be – Bac Kan Tourism Week 2017 opened in Ba Be District in the northern province of Bac Kan from November 15-21.

The event aism to introduce and promote ecotourism potentials and the special traditional cultural values of the province to international visitors.

A series of exciting cultural, sporting and tourism activities will be held during the tourism week, such as art perfromances, food fair, folk and sport games, flower garlands and a colored lantern festival, exhibition on the land and people of the northern provinces.

The event is part of the 9th “Through the Far North’s Heritage Sites” tourism program 2017.

The annual program has the participants of six Far North’s provinces including Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang. It aims to promote tourism potentials of the Far North’s provinces. The festival will take place in Bac Kan Province November 15-21.

Ba Be National Park is one of the most popular attractions in Bac Kan. Located 250 km away from Hanoi and 70 km away from Bac Kan’s center, Ba Be National Park covers a total area of 23.240 ha and is home of 417 types of plant and 299 types of animal. Ba Be Lake in the national park is the only natural lake in Vietnam surrounded by mountains and one of the world’s 100 largest fresh water lake. 

According to geologists, the lake located 145m above sea level was formed more than 200 million years ago. It has been recognized by UNESCO as a Ramsar site in Vietnam – an important wetland of the world.
