Da Nang (VNA) – The sound tourism environment, high-quality
services and excellent promotion campaigns have helped the central coastal city
of Da Nang lure an increasing number of tourists.
The
city has welcomed over 5 million travellers since the outset of 2017, a
year-on-year surge of 22.7 percent and accounting for 81.7 percent of the
yearly plan. Nearly 1.8 million foreigners visited the city in the period, up
49 percent from the same time last year.
It raked in over 15 trillion VND (660.2 million USD) from tourism services,
rising 24.4 percent year on year and occupying 81.8 percent of the yearly plan
Da Nang’s images have been brought closer to both domestic and international tourists
through promotion programmes, tourism fairs held in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and
foreign countries as well as the municipal portal and social networks.
Tourism maps in English or brochures in Korean and Japanese have been available
for foreigners while the free mobile app – Danang FantastiCity – was launched to
provide travellers with detailed schedule of events taking place in the city,
tourist attractions, entertainment, cuisine, accommodations and public toilet
maps.
Along with delivering tourism code of conduct to local accommodations and
tourist destinations, the municipal Department of Tourism has joined hands with
localities to prevent local people from insisting tourists to buy their
products or services.
The
department has increased promotion campaigns in key markets like Japan, the
Republic of Korea, China and Southeast Asia as well as potential ones including
France, Germany, the UK and India.
It
also inked a cooperation deal with the Da Nang International Airport to
increase flights and flight frequency to and from the city. Currently, 29
direct flights to Da Nang have been operated.
As the city is hosting the APEC Economic Leaders Week in November, the
Department of Tourism plans to organise a wide range of programmes to promote
its tourism potentials.
Different
tours have been designed to serve APEC delegates and international journalists.
The tours connect local renowned destinations, including Ngu Hanh Son mountain,
Museum of Cham Sculpture, Son Tra peninsula, Ba Na Hills and Han River.
Regional tours are also offered, connecting Da Nang with neighbouring
localities, such as Hoi An ancient city – a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage
Site – in Quang Nam province and the former imperial capital of Hue in Thua
Thien-Hue province.
Short
video clips featuring Da Nang are screened at LED monitors along the city’s
streets, while its tourism information is also available at the Da Nang
international airport.
Furthermore, the city has asked tourism businesses to stablise service prices during
the APEC Economic Leaders Week.-VNA
