Rocket Coffee Bar
It was those particular shades of blue – the pale-sky blue and Facebook blue. Seldom would I talk about the colours used in a café, but the blue used in the logo, the apron, the cups hit right at my weak spot. The ceiling to floor windows allowed natural light to come in, matched with light food furniture, marbled tables, lights hanging from copper pipes and plants ornamenting. You could seat at a corner, do work, chit-chat for hours away.
Walk up to the second level and the Scandinavian aura would be more apparent. Oh, there is a cosier seating area upstairs, flanked by tall potted plants. Homely, comfortable, bright, welcoming. I hate to say this, but it can be an instagrammer’s dream cafe. Menu is wide-ranging and leans to a health-slant, offering breakfast bites, salads, sandwiches, pasta, desserts and Nordic dishes. Eggs are so-called produced by “hill tribe hens” which are pasture-based, 100% organic-fed with space to roam freely.
Rocket Coffeebar is known to use produce its artisanal coffee from carefully selected small-batch roasted beans, then prepared with Synesso Hydra espresso machine. The attention to the details and theme at Rocket 49 is quite amazing. And you would realise the cafe experience is not just about food and coffee, but the being-there. Yes, I will come back here again – it is like home.
Roast – theCommons Roast is a very popular cafe in Bangkok and it seems like it’s the must-go cafe for many tourists to Bangkok. If you remember Roots, they have closed their outlet at Ekamai Terrace. Usually, cafe latte is the thing to order because of the latte art.
Now, those who love cold drinks have a reason to order this special and beautiful Iced Espresso Latte (120 Baht). The drink is served in latte ice cubes. You have to pour in the milk and sugar. It is a good opportunity to take good photographs and videos, especially when you’re pouring the milk and sugar. We were looking through the menu for interesting desserts or specifically desserts that were “instagrammable”. Had a hard time deciding as the desserts all looked so good. We went with Chocolate Souffle (200 Baht).
Roast is definitely a good place for All Day Breakfast. It can be crowded during peak hours but if you come during tea break on weekdays, you can actually stay longer and have a good catch-up with your friends.
Shugaa Opened recently in Bangkok, a 2-storey ethereal cafe called Shugaa Dessert bar has quickly become one of the cafes to visit. Known for its luxurious interior and decadent desserts, Shugaa derives its concept directly from the base of its creative menu; sugar. It is apparent throughout its theme and the interior reflects the various crystals and elements that compose the desserts’ primary ingredient, making every corner of the cafe beautifully detailed and Instagram-worthy. Shugaa is situated at The Residence, an upmarket service apartment, and it serves up an assortment of delicately crafted desserts and freshly made brunch items. Held on the second floor of the cafe is a DIY Fondant corner and patrons can craft their own fondant cake for 800 Baht onwards and each session last for 1.5 hours.
