Viet Nam will try to put in their best display as they travel to China for an international youth football tournament, which kicks off today in Kunming.
The Southeast Asian squad will play the Yunnan Province team in the opening match.
Speaking to reporters prior to their departure on Thursday, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh said his players were confident of facing strong international teams.
The played two warm-up matches last week, winning one and losing one.
Vinh said he was not able to include his best players in the team, as they were busy with the preparation for the national U-19 tournament, but he had full faith in his current players, who had developed good physique, as well as a competitive mind, after nearly 10 days of training.
“Matches in China will be a valuable experience for them. Later, they will take part in the ASEAN championship and the Asian qualification round. They have not been set any target for this event but have been asked to perform their best,” said Vinh. “If we have more time for practice, I believe we can get a good result in Kunming.”
In the second match two days later, Việt Nam will play Sichuan team and then Thailand on February 22.
