Specifically, retail sale revenue was VND 252,700 billion, representing a year-on-year surge of 10.9% and a month-on-month increase of 6.5%.

Especially, prices of food and foodstuff grew sharply by 9.5% against the previous month and 12.7% against the same period last year.

Restaurant and accommodation cost rose VND 37,300 billion, up 2.6% against December, 2016 and 3.1% against the same period last year.

Some localities witnessed rising service revenues including Ba Ria-Vung Tau (up 12%); Thanh Hoa (up 8.6%); Kien Giang (up 7.4%); and Ha Noi (up 5.7%). Meanwhile, Quang Binh, HCMC, and Nam Dinh saw declining service revenues by 12.4%, 5.3%,and 5.3% respectively.

Noticeably, travel revenue stood at VND 3.4 trillion, up 8% against last December and 30.7% against the same period lastyear.

Other service revenue was estimated at VND 36.9 trillion, rising by 2.7% and 9.3% against last December and the same period last year.
