Da Nang Ready for Major Tourist Events in 2017
Da Nang City has launched many attractive new products and upgraded infrastructure and tourism facilities to meet diverse travel demands from tourists. The city has been actively preparing for major events in 2017.
Speaking at the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Conference, Ms Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Tourism Department, said, Da Nang City has striven to become a dynamic tourism city with many international events. As a result, the city was voted and named “Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination 2016” by the World Travel Awards.
As of November 2016, the city had 575 accommodation establishments with 21,648 rooms. The international terminal at Da Nang Airport is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in March 2017 with 40 counters for air procedures, 20 exit counters, and 10 aircraft gates. The terminal is expected to serve 4-6 million customers a year. At the same time, to give further utility to tourists, the city has planned to launch a mobile travelling application, Fantasticity, in early 2017.
The Da Nang Tourism Department said that Da Nang City will host many big events in 2017. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2017 will be staged by competitors from eight countries, including Vietnam, Switzerland, China, Australia, Austria, Japan, the United Kingdom and Italy. Unlike previous years, the festival will last almost two months (from April 29 to June 24, 2017) instead of two days as before.
Many supporting festivals will also be held during the fireworks festival and events, including Foods and Drinks Festival, Cham Culture Festival, Kite Festival, Beer Festival, Sculpture Festival, Street Festival and Photo Exhibition.
Festive activities at Ba Na Hills Resort will be held from May to October 2017. Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park will put into operation the largest chutes made from natural stone and mud play area. Other destinations for amusement consist of Asia Park and Cocobay Tourism and Leisure Complex and Son Tra Sunset Programme.
Especially, the local tourism sector is actively preparing to best serve the APEC Economic Leaders Week 2017 to be hosted by Da Nang city in November.
