Online photo campaign launched to promote Vietnam’s tourism sector

The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens both at home and abroad, as well as to non-Vietnamese who have travelled or lived in the country. The entrants must be at least fifteen years of age.

The contestants are required to take photos capturing the life, people and culture of Vietnam, featuring a new angle about the culturally rich yet modern, dynamic and welcoming Vietnam, as well as representing their love for the country.

Each photo must be accompanied with a caption that includes the campaign’s official hashtag #whyvietnam and a short paragraph explaining “Why you love Vietnam” or “Why you choose Vietnam.”

Finally, the entrants must publicly share their photos on social media including Facebook and Instagram or submit them directly to #WhyVietnam’s official Fanpage at http://bit.ly/2gYgdWO as a way to express the affection they have for this country, but also to invite foreign friends to come and explore this hidden gem.

Each entrant can submit multiple entries. Each photo will be counted as one separate entry. Entries must be submitted no later than 23:59 December 18, 2016.

The submissions will be assessed based on the cumulative number of social media “likes,” “shares” and “comments”; aesthetic quality and creativity, originality; and the appeal of the caption and its ability to urge the community to participate in and support the campaign.

The winners will be announced at 14:00 on December 20, 2016 via #WhyVietnam’s official Fanpage. The Grand prize winner will be awarded an overland tour of Vietnam for two people worth VND50 million (US$2,200). One first, one second and one third prize will also be presented.

The contest is being held with a view to promoting Vietnamese tourism, to inspire more and more potential tourists to put Vietnam at the top of their lists of “must-visit” destinations and to set a new social trend among Vietnamese youth and foreigners.
