Under the MoU, the two countries will provide mutual support in implementing strategies on increasing the two-way flow of tourists, enhancing human resources training and facilitating events hosted by the VNAT and KTO.
The KTO also signed MoU with the Vietnam Airlines Corporation and the Vietravel company in which the KTO and its partners pledged to foster cooperation in exploring new markets, developing new tourism products and promoting tourism activities.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNAT General Director Nguyen Van Tuan said that Vietnam boasted attractive natural landscapes, a unique culture and friendly people, which could meet the travel demand of RoK visitors.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese people also wanted to discover and experience the land and people of the RoK, he said, concluding that there were good conditions for developing bilateral tourism ties.
For his part, Jung Chang Soo, CEO of KTO, expressed his belief that the positive cooperation between the two sides would help bring about a significant increase in the number of Vietnamese visitors to the RoK in the future.
Over 160,000 Vietnamese people visited the RoK last year, and Vietnam welcomed more than 1.1 million RoK tourists. The number of Vietnamese tourists to the RoK this year is expected to reach 240,000, and Vietnam hopes to receive 1.5 million RoK tourists at the same time.
