Jetstar Pacific bans use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on flights

Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific October 18 banned all passengers on their flights from carrying on board and checking in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 smart phones on its domestic and international flights.

The ban is due to concerns of potential fire risk from the device’s battery in a bid to ensure passengers and the plane’s safety.

The carrier said it has banned use the Note 7 from its flights under all forms. Passengers in possession of the device – even if it is in their check-in luggage – will be denied boarding,

The ban was issued after a number of incidents of fire worldwide relating to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 reported. Samsung had asked its customers to return their phones to Samsung for a refund.

Jetstar said that its officials will popularize its passengers about the ban of bringing Samsung Galaxy Note 7 aboard as well as the luggage will be screened for the flights’ safety.
