Expat stops Vietnamese city car

The man insisted a car driver advancing against the flow of traffic remain at the scene until police arrived.

A 30-year old foreigner stopped a Saigon car driver from proceeding against traffic on Dinh Tien Hoang in District 1, on Tuesday.

The expat cried out until police arrived; he left the scene soon after the driver stepped into the street and began cooperating with the officers.

Earlier this month, a young man also stopped a bus in the wrong lane of a Hanoi street, local media reported. He sat on his motorbike and played with his mobile phone until the bus backed down and returned to the proper lane.

Vehicles that cross into oncoming traffic frequently exasperate the growing traffic problems in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
