The number of Russian arrivals in Vietnam reached nearly 300,000 in the first eight months of 2016, a year-on-year increase of 125%.
More Russian tourists are expected to explore Vietnam in the remaining months of this year, experts say.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has defined Russia a key tourism market for Vietnam.
Vietnam is viewed as a safe and friendly destination with sandy beaches, sunny weather and high-end resorts in its South-Central Region and rich culture and gastronomy that are enormously attractive to Russian visitors.
Vietnam welcomed over 7.2 million international tourists in the first nine months of 2016, a yearly rise of 25.7%.
The tourism sector grossed over VND297.1 trillion (US$13.36 billion) in revenue, a year-on-year increase of 20.2%.
Northeast and East Asian markets have registered the strongest growth, including China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at 79%, China 57.7%, the Republic of Korea 39.9% and China’s Taiwan15.7%.
Five Western European countries whose nationals enjoy visa exemptions in visiting Vietnam maintained double-digit growth: Italy at 31.1%, Spain at 27.9%, the UK at 23.1%, Germany at 18.6% and France at 13.8%.
