Pedestrian-only space piloted around Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake

Accordingly, the area around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding streets leading to the Lake will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7pm Friday to midnight Sunday.

A wide range of cultural, musical and arts performances will be organised along with sports activities and folk games during the duration of the walking space, towards bringing local citizens and visitors moments of relaxation and entertainment.

Book stalls and exhibitions of photos, painting and arts works, are available for those who love “silent art”.

According to Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department Do Dinh Hong, the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake, a historic and special national relic site, and surrounding streets promises to become one of Hanoi’s specialties, which will contribute to boosting tourism services in the capital city and create a space for locals and visitors to get an insight into Hanoi, a city for peace with a thousand-year-old culture, fostering their love for the Vietnamese capital.
