Malaysia launches Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur air route

The OD572 flight will take off at 12:15pm in Hanoi and land at 4:35pm in Kuala Lumpur while the OD 571 flight from Kuala Lumpur will depart at 9:15am in Kuala Lumpur and arrived in Hanoi at 11:15am everyday.

With the new route, Malindo Air has connected Malaysian localities with 40 destinations in 13 countries around the world.

Earlier, the carrier opened the direct air route between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur. The attendance of the carrier in Vietnamese market is expected to contribute to reaching the target of welcoming 36 million international visitors to Malaysia by 2020.

A representative of Malindo Air said that tourism is one of economic sectors contributing most to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP). The number of Vietnamese visitors to Malaysia reached around 286,000 in 2014 and this figure increased 6.7% in 2015.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Tourism Ngo Hoai Chung emphasised that Malaysian market was considered as a major market for Vietnamese tourism sector.

He also added the opening of Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur route would contribute to attracting more visitors to the two countries as well as enhancing the comprehensive co-operation in all fields between the two nations.

Malindo Air committed that the airline would co-ordinate with General Department of Malaysia and travel organisations in Vietnam to offer promotions for tourism stimulation in the coming time.
