Western European citizens continue to be exempted from visa to Vietnam

The information is from a Government decree issued on June 30.

The exemptions apply to all types of passports and entry purposes if required conditions of Vietnam’s legal regulations are met.

The Government asked Ministers and Heads of ministerial agencies and Government’s agencies, as well as Chairmen of People’s Committees of centrally-governed provinces and cities to implement the decree.

The decree is effective from the day of issuance.

According to the General Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, simplification of immigration procedures has become a common trend in the world, and neighbouring countries of Vietnam continue to simplify the procedures to attract further tourists.

It was also reported that the total number of tourists from the five Western European countries over nine months of visa exemptions reached 554,242, a 13.91% increase over the same period of 2014 and 2015, bringing in over US$171 million.
