Khanh Hoa Province’s authorities announced Wednesday they are completing procedures to deport 64 Chinese people who were caught working illegally for a travel agency in the provincial capital town of Nha Trang.
They were employees of Silent Bay, a company that has been banned from organizing tours for foreign tourists, according to the province’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.
Earlier, inspectors found that Silent Bay did not record and save relevant documents of their business. The company also forged documents when applying for a business registration and hired 64 Chinese employees illegally.
Following the inspection, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism asked Khanh Hoa to step up surveillance of travel agencies.
Foreign tour guides are not allowed to work in Vietnam.
Recent actions in Nha Trang came after Da Nang found illegal Chinese tour guides distorting Vietnam’s history.
Media reports said there might be 60 Chinese working illegally as tour guides in Da Nang, the biggest city in Vietnam’s central region.
