A cruiser driver on Ha Long Bay has been fired for sailing the boat with his feet earlier this month.
Managers at the port authority of Quang Ninh Province said driver Vu Van Tung, 27, has been dismissed and won’t be allowed to work for any cruiser on the bay.
The authority has revoked his license and is investigating further to impose necessary punishment on his company.
A report on Gia Dinh Viet Nam Newspaper earlier reported that Tung drove the cruiser with his feet on July 6, causing travelers to have a rough journey with at least one collision with a boat, which did not hurt anyone.
But there were other near collisions and many passengers on Tung’s boat felt dizzy afterwards, it said.
The beautiful Ha Long Bay is one of the most popular tourism attractions of Vietnam, but tourists do not always get to enjoy the whole journey, given issues about fire safety and overcharging services on the boats.
