Vietnamese Embassy promotes tourism in India

The Vietnamese Embassy in India hosted a tourism promotion event at Samrat Hotel in New Delhi on April 20, featuring tourism associations and travel agencies from both Vietnam and India.

In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh said the event offers an opportunity for Indians to learn more about Vietnam.

Vietnam welcomed around 65,000 Indian holidaymakers last year, an increase of 18.2 percent from 55,000 in 2014. However, it was still a small number as approximately 20 million Indians travel overseas annually, Thanh added.

Vietnam is known among many Indian visitors for magnificent landscapes, such as Ha Long Bay, Trang An complex and Phong Nha Cave, the ambassador said, noting that the country is also home to well-preserved Hindu temples in Ho Chi Minh City and in My Son.

He said he hopes that tour operators in India would expand their tour networks in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s travel firms – Ben Thanh Tourist, Victoria Tours, ICS Travel Group and Vietnam Airlines – took the occasion to introduce their tours at the event.

The tourism promotion event will also be held in Bhubaneswa City, Odisha on April 21.
