HA NOI – Viet Nam’s Giap Trung Thang has been elected the first general secretary of the ASEAN Muaythai Federation (AMF).

Another Vietnamese Nguyen Ngọc Anh has become the AMF deputy chairman.

Thang is general secretary of the HCM City Muaythai Federation, and Anh is the deputy head of the Elite Sport 1 Department of the Viet Nam Sports Administration.

The AMF was set up on February 6 in Bangkok, during Muaythai Day, which is recognised by the King and the government of Thailand.

The first AMF congress was attended by regional teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar, besides the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. — VNS
