HA NOI (VNS) — Top Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam’s short Tet celebration has ended, to be followed by participation in tournaments in China.

The national number one player will compete in a Men’s Futures F1 tournament from February 15 to 21.

Ranked 912th in the world, Nam is seeded 16th in the men’s singles event that will be held at Hot Spring Tennis Centre in Yunnan Province.The winners will get a total of US$10,000.Nam will then play in the F2 event there from February 22 to 28, but he has to play from the qualification round.

Nam, the 2015 Wimbledon doubles boys’ champion, will launch his professional career this year.

He has set a target for himself. “I am happy because I achieved my goal of participating in all four Grand Slams and am among the top 1,000 players in the world. I want to enter the top 500 rankings this year and then the top 100 in the near future.” — VNS
