The former imperial citadel of Hue will offer free entry into town and all tourist attractions on the first three days of the new lunar year, when many events are scheduled.

The free entry from February 8 to 10 I meant to promote tourism, Phan Thanh Hai, deputy director of the Center for Preservation of Hue Former Citadel Relics, said.

The center will organize events like lion dance, calligraphy art, folk games, and others on the three days.

A fireworks performance is scheduled for New Year Eve on the Huong River.

Earlier, on Monday the center re-enacted the bamboo pole-raising ritual, an old custom to pray for peace in the new year.

Hue hopes to attract around 3.2 million visitors this year, 18 percent more than in 2015.
