(Cinet)- The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organized a press conference to announce the upcoming calligraphy writing festival to welcome the Binh Than (Year of the Monkey) Lunar New Year.
Accordingly, the calligraphy writing festival will take place from February 2nd (December 24th on lunar calendar) to February 15th (January 8th on lunar calendar) at Van lake, Temple of Literature.130 tents will be set up for 100 calligraphers. The festival will include two main activities: Calligraphy exhibition and calligraphy writing.
By introducing 100 calligraphic works under the theme “Uong nuoc nho nguon” (when drinking water, remember its source), the exhibition not only encourages the younger generation to focus on their studies and show deep gratitude to the ancestors, but also gradually improves the development of calligraphy writing.
Among 44 attendances, 8 people were awarded cards to write letters in three years 2016 – 2018; seven people were awarded cards for 2016; and 100 people passed the contest last year were allowed to write letters at Van Lake this festival.
As known, Calligraphy Street in Hanoi 2015 will be repositioned to Literature Lake in Temple of Literature[1] and become “Calligraphy Writing Festival”. The organization of Calligraphy Writing Festival will arrange 100 tents for about 200 calligraphers in the area of Literature Lake. These calligraphers will write from 8:30 to 20:00 during the festival, except the 30th day of the last month of the old year (in lunar calendar) the calligraphers will write until 2:00 am of the next day. On the first and the second days of the New Year, they will write until 22:00. To make the Calligraphy Writing Festival in Hanoi goes smoothly, Hanoi Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism assigned appraisal and management letters to UNESCO Vietnam[2] Club. It is reported that on February 5th, the second calligraphers examination completed to select skillful calligraphers. The examination included members of calligraphy club in Hanoi.
