Charity walk set for Saturday

The 11th annual charity walk aims at collecting funds for poor people in the districts to help them enjoy the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) as well as “Chung mot tam long” (sharing the same heart) foundation of the HCMC Television and the sponsoring foundation for sporting talents under the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports.

This year’s event will also stage music performances. Individual participants who donate at least VND50,000 (US$2.2) each will receive a T-shirt and a ticket for a lucky draw.

The organizers expect 15,000 people will take part in the 2-kilometer-long walk.

Benefactors of the upcoming event have pledged to donate a total of VND2.6 billion.

The organizers said the ten previous years helped raised VND20 billion from around 135,000 participants.
