(VOV) – On November 27, Australian-based Jetstar Airlines, a subsidiary of the Qantas Group, opened a new Singapore-Danang route catering to heightened passenger travel brought about by launch of the ASEAN Economic Community.
According to Jetstar Asia’s CEO Barathan Pasupathi, the opening of more airline services to Vietnam is a sign of the economic potential of the Southeast Asian nation for yet even higher levels of business and personal travel.
“The rising number of international airlines opening direct flight routes into Vietnam is proof of its economic potential,” said Pasupathi and Jetstar’s opening of the first direct Singapore-Danang route will provide our customers a wider range of transport options.
The airline operated a 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft in its maiden flight from Singapore, and then returned from Danang on the same day he said, adding Jetstar would fly three times a week in the first stage of the new route.
Deputy Director Tran Chi Cuong of the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in turn said athletes and fans attending the upcoming Asian Games would be able to take advantage of the new route.
