VN duo advance to ITF quarter-finals

HA NOI — Nguyen Mau Vinh Quang and Tu Minh Tri are one of two Vietnamese pairs surviving at the ongoing ITF Junior Circuit tournament in HCM City.

The duo on July 21 made a splash when they defeated number four seed John Bryan Decasa Otico and Steven Harianto Poedji 6-4, 7-6(2) in the boys’ doubles event.

They will next play Sirawit Daosaengsawang and Daiki Kato in the quarter-final round.

The other pair of Nguyen Nhut Hoang and Stefano Wirawan beat Alester Magalit and Jerome Romualdez 6-2, 2-6, 10-4.

Hoang and Wirawan will play number two seed Hao Sheng Koay and Sri Aakash Reddiyar in the next round.

Earlier, all players of the host country were defeated in the singles events. — VNS
