Last weekend, the provincial Steering Committee of voluntary blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Organizing Board of the Red Journey program 2015 launched the voluntary blood donation festive day 2015 in Quang Ngai with the theme “Blood drops of sea”.

Transfusion Institute cum Deputy Head of the Red Journey’s Organizing Board 2015, Vice Chairman of the PPC Le Quang Thich, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee Le Van Sau, 70 volunteers of the Red Journey 2015 in the Southern region and 1,600 coordinators, volunteers, youth unions’ members, civil servants and local people.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman Le Quang Thich province said that in recent years, Quang Ngai has met 100% of blood demands for emergency and treatment. This is the result of efforts, cooperation of the Red Cross, the Steering Committee of voluntary blood donation at all levels, the Youth Union’s members and localities.
However, in the time to come, the need of blood for patients will be increased, especially in the summer, holidays. In order to be active in the blood supply in saving people lives, Thich called in all units, levels and localities to actively interest in advocacy of blood donation to collectives, individuals, leaders, managers, youth union members, students, and the strata.
Responding to the call, at the event, hundreds of youths, armed forces and the local people have participated into the voluntary blood donation. It is expected that the festive day will mobilize nearly 700 blood units, of which, about 400 units of blood will be transferred to the Central Institute of Hematology – Blood Transfusion, contributing to increase the reserved blood source, serving treatment for patients throughout the country, 300 units of blood will be transferred to the provincial Center of Hematology – Blood Transfusion, serving for the emergency and health treatment in the province.
