Indonesian President Joko Widodo is set to pay a state visit to Singapore from July 28-29 to boost economic cooperation between the two countries, according to the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s press release.

He will be accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Yuddy Chrisnandi and Minister of Youth and Sport Imam Nahrawi.

During his stay, the Indonesian leader is scheduled to meet with Singapore’s President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and attend a meeting with entrepreneurs which is expected to include more than 150 CEOs of leading groups in Singapore.

Together with bilateral issues, the two countries’ leaders will take the occasion to discuss ASEAN-related issues.

Today, Singapore is one of Indonesia’s key partners in trade, investment and tourism.

Trade reached nearly 42 billion USD in 2014. Singapore has remained Indonesia’s biggest investor in the past five years, with 2,056 projects worth 5.8 billion USD last year.

Singapore also ranks first in terms of tourists to Indonesia with 1.52 million arrivals in 2014, up 10 percent annually.-VNA
