Vietnam hosted a workshop in the Belgian city of Liege on July 21 to promote Da Nang city as a destination for tourists from French-speaking countries across the globe.
The event took place within the framework of t he 2nd French Language World Forum (FLWF) which runs from July 20-23. The forum brought together more than 1,500 delegates from all over the world, including Vietnamese representatives, to share their views and ideas on the “creative Francophone”.
The workshop was organised as part of a project that establishes links between French-speaking tourists and French language students in Da Nang. It was initiated by teachers and students at the central coastal city’s Hoang Hoa Tham and Phan Chu Trinh high schools.
The initiative, called “Diem hen Phap ngu” (Francophone Rendezvous), has been piloted at the two facilities since March and will be expanded to other schools from September onwards.
During the event, a variety of communication materials, such as video clips, publications and Facebook pages, was presented to the participants, who expressed a particular interest in the city and the tourism initiative.
The instruments provide a channel for Francophone tourists to retrieve useful travel tips and information and get in contact with local students.
According to Director of the 2015 FLWF Philippe Suinen , the project was appealing and likely to boost tourism and French language skills among young local residents.
He said it was a win-win solution that impacted positively on the entire community of more than 280 million French speakers all over the world.-VNA
