Can Tho hosts Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week Related image(s)
| The Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 opened on June 29th, in Can Tho city.
The event aims to speed up tourism development in the Mekong Delta, contributing to realizing the strategy of developing Vietnam’s tourism. In addition, it also offered opportunities for localities in the region to promote tourism potential and strengths and introduce specific and special tourism products, in combination with protecting the eco-environment and ensuring sustainable tourism development. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh affirmed in his opening speech that aiming to enable Vietnam’s tourism to be a spearhead industry with sustainable development, localities in the Mekong Delta need to improve professionalism and enhance tourism development links in breadth and depth in order to shape specific tourist destinations, ensuring the increasing demand of both foreign and domestic tourists. Together with the participation of 13 provinces and cities in the region, the event was attended by Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thua Thien-Hue, Binh Dinh and Lam Dong.
