Photos on Vietnam – US and US through Vietnamese photographers Related image(s)
The organizing board of the photo contest and exhibition “Images of Vietnam – US relations and the United States of America through the lens of Vietnamese photographers” has announced the results after a seven-month submission period.
Accordingly, more than 2,000 entries by 82 photographers were sent to the organizing board, including three categories, politics-diplomacy, socio-culture and landscapes and daily life in the US. On the politics-diplomacy topic, the first prize went to the work on the commencement of the new historical page by Tran Viet Dung; the second prize is on US President George W. Bush and a Vietnamese musical instrument by Nguyen Khang; the third prize is on Vietnamese State President Le Duc Anh’s visit to Boby Muller, a veteran of Vietnam war by Pham Cao Phong. On the socio-culture topic, Nguyen Vinh Hien won the first prize; Nguyen Le won the second prize with photos on a Carnival festival in the Caribbean, Washington D.C; and Nguyen Duy Anh won the third prize with photos on a pumpkin festival. On the landscapes and daily life in the US topic, the photo on the beautiful sea in California by Nguyen Bao Ngoc won first prize; the photo on dawn in Mono lake by Nguyen Dang Dinh took second; and the photo on 5th Avenue, New York by Thai Thanh Son squeezed into third place. The organizing board and the jury of the contest also presented two consolidation prizes for each topic and selected 100 outstanding photos for the exhibition in Hanoi from Jul 2nd to 6th and in Washington D.C from July 8th to 13th on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations. The event was held by the Vietnam-US Society, the Vietnam-US Magazine and VTV4 channel under the auspices of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It contributed to promoting understanding and exchanges between the people of the two countries./. |
