NDO – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on June 23 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to honour the Vietnamese sporting delegation’s achievements at the recent 28th SEA Games and present Labour Orders to outstanding athletes.

At the ceremony, head of the Vietnamese delegation Tran Duc Phan reviewed the preparation and achievements of the athletes at the 28th SEA Games, which took place from June 5-16 in Singapore.

Vietnam won a total of 73 gold, 53 silver and 60 bronze medals in 28 events, coming in third in the overall medal standings. Sixty-eight gold medals that Vietnam won this year came from 12 Olympic events.

Addressing the ceremony, the Minter of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh emphasised that the achievements of the athletes have brought joy and pride to Vietnamese people.

Swimmer Anh Vien, who took home eight individual gold medals and eight new SEA Games records, along with gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh who secured three gold medals, received Labour Orders, second class at the ceremony.

Labour Orders, third class went to 25 other athletes and numerous certificates of merit were also presented to outstanding individuals and collectives for their contributions to the Vietnamese sporting sector.
