The Hanoi Promotion Agency was officially launched on June 15th, created from a re-organization of four promotion centers under four departments: the Hanoi Authority for Planning and Investment, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Authority.

Established at the direction of the Prime Minister, the Hanoi Promotion Agency will operate under the Hanoi People’s Committee.

The People’s Committee has issued a decision defining the Agency’s mission and responsibilities, the primary ones being to coordinate with related bodies to advise and propose to city authorities regarding investment attraction policies and to implement the city’s plans and programs on investment, trade, and tourism promotion.

Hanoi granted licenses to 80 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the first quarter of this year, including both newly-registered projects and those adding capital, with total investment of USD160.2 million; double the figure in the same period of 2014./.
