Ca Hue (traditional Hue singing) has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, according to the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province.
The kind of art is a combination of literature and music, making a scholarly, fine and poetic beauty.
Ca Hue originated in Thuan Hoa-Phu Xuan (now Thua Thien – Hue ) more than three centuries ago.
The folk music has increasingly attracted domestic and foreign visitors.
It is often performed on small stands or on floating stages on Huong River, in chambers and hotels in Hue City.
Recently, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized training programs and licensed nearly 500 artists and musicians of the genre.
