On 12 May, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) and Health Department (DoH) jointly held a seminar on promoting gender equality in order to control sex imbalance at birth during the period of 2015 – 2020. ​

At the seminar, representatives of relevant agencies presented reports on the status of the sex ratio and reasons of sex imbalance at birth, the intervention activities to minimize the sex imbalance ratio at birth in the province; and proposed intervention methods to reduce the sex imbalance at birth in the province.

In the framework of the seminar, participants were introduced main contents of the National Program on Gender Equality in the 2011-2020 period such as ensuring gender equality in accessing health care, the Plan of Action on Gender Equality of Quang Ngai province in the period of 2011-2015 and the collaboration program signed between the DoLISA and DoH on promoting gender equality in order to control imbalance in sex ratio at birth, period 2015 – 2020.

As revealed, the sex ratio at birth in the province is 111 boys /100 girls. The sex ratio at birth in the province has reduced since 2012 but still high in despite of using control measures.
