Police in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue are questioning two local tour guides for allegedly cheating two Dutch tourists out of VND9 million (US$414), news website Dan Tri reported Tuesday.
On May 1 Le Van Thanh and Tran Van Vinh, both 31, took Susan Reiniera Erna and Lisette Dollekamp on a motorcycle tour to the World Heritage Site-listed town of Hoi An in nearby Quang Nam Province.
During the tour the guides recommended a five-day tour from Hoi An to the central beach resort town of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province for VND9 million per person.
The duo agreed and paid them half the amount as deposit, but later canceled the plan and asked the guides to return the money.
When the guides kept refusing to answer their calls, the two filed a complaint with the Thua Thien – Hue police, who have ordered the duo to return the money.
