Nha Trang sea festival to take place in July

NDO – The Nha Trang sea festival 2015 will be organised from July 11-14 in Nha Trang city, Khanh Vinh district and Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province with 60 entertaining activities, the festival organiser announced.

The information was published at a press conference held in Hanoi on May 8 by the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee.

According to Tran Son Hai, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee and head of the festival’s organising board, under the theme ‘Peace and Creation’, this year’s festival is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors.

The special cultural, sports and tourism activities include exhibitions on sea cultural heritage and documents about Hoang Sa (Paracel)-Truong Sa (Spratly); festivals promoting the sanest bird nest, wine and handmade embroidery products; and the semi-final round of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2015.

The festival’s highlights will be the opening and closing ceremonies, a carnival festival, an art programme themed ‘Motherland’s Sea and Islands’ and shows by international art troupes.

Prior to the July 11 opening ceremony, 20 activities will take place including a campaign on cleaning Nha Trang beach in response to the World Environment Day (June 5), the World Oceans Day (June 8) and the 2015 Sea and Islands Week, which has received positive response from local residents and domestic and international tourists.

Hai said that the biennial festival, which has been organised since 2003, is an eminent event for the province, contributing to promoting the cultural values of seas and islands, as well as the economic, cultural and tourism potential of the coastal city of Nha Trang and the province.

The festival has affirmed the name of Khanh Hoa on Vietnam’s investment and tourism maps, Hai said.
