Goalie Manh not leaving for Thailand

Head coach Toshiya Miura called SHB Da Nang’s Le Van Hung to replace Manh.

Earlier, Miura, the 50-year-old coach, planned to include 24 players, including Manh, in the Group F’s opening match against Thailand in the 2018 FIFA World Cup’s qualifying round on May 24.

As scheduled, the team will have two days of training in Thailand before facing Thailand.

Viet Nam will then take on Indonesia in their second clash, scheduled for September 3 on home territory.

Honda Viet Nam to continue sponsoring national football teams

Honda Viet Nam will continue to be the official sponsor of Viet Nam football, after signing a contract with the Viet Nam Football Federation on May 20 in Ha Noi.

Following the agreement, Honda will sponsor the Vietnam national men’s and women’s football squad, along with the U23 team.

Honda has sponsored Viet Nam football since 2013.

A representative of Honda said it will provide a motorbike to every footballer if the U23 team win the title at the coming 28th Southeast Asian Games’ men’s football event.

Viet Nam beat Mongolia in second match at Asian volleyball event

Viet Nam defeated Mongolia 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-13) in the second match of Group C at the 2015 Women’s Asian Volleyball Championship in Tianjin, China yesterday, May 21.

Viet Nam also beat Japan, ranked fifth in the world, 3-2 in the first match. The two wins means Viet Nam will move on to the quarterfinals.

Today they will face Turkmenistan.

The group stage of the biennial nine-day event has 16 teams in four groups competing in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will move on to the quarterfinals. The final match is scheduled for May 28.
