North Korea’s 4.25 Club defeated Lien Viet Post Bank with a 3-1 win on Sunday, claiming the top title at the 2015 VTV-Binh Dien International Women’s Volleyball Championship in Quang Tri Province


The Vietnamese club, who had a difficult 3-2 win over VTV Binh Dien Long An in the semifinal, lost 25-23 in the first set.


They came back strongly in the second set to win 25-18, before losing the next two sets 25-23 and 25-18.


The North Korea club won the championship with an award of US$15,000 while the runner-up got US$10,000.


Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s Astana Club defeated VTV Binh Dien Long An in the third place play-off to win a $6,000 prize.


4.25 Club’s Jong Jin Sim won three individual titles, including best player, best attacker and best opposite spiker.

Two Lien Viet Post Bank players, Nguyen Linh Chi and Pham Thi Lien were best setter and best libero, respectively.


Karpova Olga of Astana Club won best blocker title while Tran Thi Thanh Thuy of VTV Binh Dien Long An was named best young player.


Ohmota Shuna of Japan’s Tenri University won Miss Volleyball title.


VTV Binh Dien Long An’s Bich Tram and Kazakhstan’s Sitkazinova Zarina won the titles for best local and foreign player in the traditional tunic áo dài.


Organizers announced to host next year event in Ninh Binh Province.
